Croatia
GENERAL INFORMATION
Sea, mountains and islands
Croatia is a picture country, incredibly beautiful in any part and in every season:
- This is one of the sunniest regions of the Mediterranean, the sun shines here for about 2600 hours a year
- Washed by the Adriatic Sea - its calm waters and numerous bays are ideal for sailing, and pebble, white stone and sandy beaches are for family holidays
- Along the coast there are more than 1200 islands, many of which can be moored
- About 70% of the country's territory is occupied by 7 natural parks. Plitvtsi Lakes are especially interesting - 16 emerald lakes, connected by a cascade of 92 waterfalls, are called the "eighth wonder of the world"
- The ancient city of Dubrovnik, the "Pearl of the Adriatic", is included by UNESCO in the list of the most beautiful cities in Europe during the Renaissance. The unique architecture of other cities, Rovinj, Opatija, Split, also deserves attention - these are real open-air museums
- Outdoor activities are popular in Croatia: cycling, rafting, golf, horseback riding, kayaking and much more
- Croatian cuisine is rich in freshly caught seafood. And what a flavor they emit when grilled or bonfired
Mild climate
On the Adriatic coast, the climate is mild with warm winters and dry, moderately hot summers - even the warmest days are well tolerated here, thanks to a light breeze from the sea and an abundance of greenery on the coast.
It is a little colder in the mountains, in the center of the country the climate is temperate continental with warm winters and cool summers.
The sea does not cool below 10 degrees even in winter, and in summer the temperature of its waters reaches 26 degrees.
Excellent infrastructure
Croatia is a relatively small country, and getting around is easy, both with your own car and public transport. Over the past couple of decades, an extensive network of modern highways has appeared here.
In the north of the country, rail links are well developed; buses run throughout Croatia, with which it is easy to get to even the most distant settlements. There are also 9 airports in the country, 6 of which are international, 3 are domestic.
Currency and prices
The official currency of Croatia is the kuna.
Croatia shares with other EU countries part of the tax system, primarily the value added tax (VAT) system. This tax is calculated for most goods and services at a rate of 25%.
Food prices are approximately at the European level, for clothes and equipment - in some cases a little higher due to the large number of tourists in the summer season. At the same time, the choice of products is excellent - a lot of fruits and vegetables, fish and seafood.
Croatian cuisine
The national cuisine of the country combines European products with oriental traditions, an abundance of seafood and aromatic spices. Fish, vegetables, herbs, olives, smoked prosciutto and Pasha's signature cheese made from sheep's milk and olive oil.
They love soups and meat dishes here, they know a lot about sweets - a unique slave cake (the recipe is kept secret!), Candied fruits, sweet rolls and pies. And in addition to all this pleasure - aromatic wine from Croatian vineyards. Perfect!
Passport and visa
Croatia is part of the European Union, but not in the Schengen area. Citizens of European countries do not need a visa to enter Croatia. The only exceptions are the Russian Federation, Belarus and the Republic of Turkey.
Information about the visa regime with Croatia can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Lifestyle
Despite the love of active sports and the abundance of tourists, life in Croatia is calm and measured. There is a very low crime rate here. Like many Europeans, Croats love children and are happy to treat their own and other people's babies. Croatian is similar to Russian and relatively easy to understand. In big cities and tourist places, many people speak English.
Is it easy to buy property in Croatia? Yes, if you do it with the Mercury Group. Buying a personal property will be an investment in a comfortable life for you and your children in the future, while purchasing a commercial property will be a profitable investment in the heart of European summer tourism.
